Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a well-proven, in-office, minimally invasive
procedure used to treat both small and large veins (particularly
spider veins). The
veins are injected with a solution which causes them to swell,
collapse, and fade from view. The procedure
is relatively painless and can be performed in 30-45 minutes. The
necessary number of sclerotherapy treatments will be determined
by the physician based on the severity of the problem (the number
and size of veins).
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
This is a procedure that was developed in Europe for the treatment
of medium to large veins. It can be performed through pinhole incisions
using local anesthetic. The procedure is minimally invasive and
performed in our office with little or no down time. This procedure
may be used in conjunction with sclerotherapy.
Endovenous Laser Therapy
This is a new, non-invasive, safer treatment for larger veins.
During treatment, laser energy is delivered through a small puncture
in the leg close to the diseased vein. No surgery is required;
your leg is anesthetized and the procedure is relatively painless. The
procedure can be performed in the office in about an hour. You
can normally return to work and resume regular activity within
a day.
Venous Duplex Imaging
Duplex scanning of veins utilizes ultrasound to determine
the anatomy and direction of blood flow and to assess for abnormal
valve function in your veins. With ultrasound technology, the
physician is better able to diagnose underlying problems and
devise a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs—a necessary
step for achieving the best long-term cosmetic and therapeutic
results. Premier Vein Clinics provide on-site
imaging in our vascular labs. Our registered vascular technologists
have been specially trained by our vascular surgeons. The imaging
test is non-invasive, no preparation is needed, and it takes
approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. Venous duplex scanning
is typically covered by most insurance companies.
